If you are going to speak up be ready for anything. If you are in the states go to your state website and get information on how laws are made.

Legislature

Understand

  • You are just one person and may not be taken seriously until the news is interested you. Take notes, take names and write down experiences immediately.
  • It will be frustrating. You will want to quit. You might be threatened. Your privacy is no longer existent. However, your motivation to prevent others from harm will be your reward.
  • The Legislature, Court systems and police departments do not have a clear bridge of communication. You will get the run around until you find the right people. Keep trying.

Be confident

  • Of course it is always important to be confident, but imperative if you want people to listen to you.

Support

  • Set up a support plan for when you are drained.
  • Use your connections, colleges, neighborhood groups
  • Women’s associations
  • Victim and abuse associations
  • Law associations
